Abstract: The synthesis and pharmacological activity of a new series of non peptide angiotensin (A-II) receptor antagonist has been prepared. This [(2-substituted-5-nitro-benzoimidazol-1-ylmethyl)-biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid differ from the previously reported and related compounds in that they produce a potent hypertensive effect upon oral administration. substituent at 5 position (nitro ) were synthesized and tested for antihypertensive activity in An insertion-cyclization strategy was involved during synthetic path sequences. Structures of all the synthesized compounds have been corroborated on the basis of elemental IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and Mss spectro-analytical data. It also reports the in antihypertensive activity studies performed on synthesized compounds against a representative panel of losratan and Telmisartan, inhibition of AII-induced increase in blood pressure, pithed rats.
