Abstract:
Schiff base has been synthesized by the reaction
of salicyladehyde with 2-aminobenzoic acid. The ligand [N-(2-
hydroxybenzylidene- 2-aminobenzoic acid)] L3, and
adipic acid dihydrazide L react with Pr(III), Sm(III), Eu(III),
Gd(III), Tb(III), Dy(III) metals to yield ML3LXn(H2O)n
metal-ligand complexes.where X=Cl-1, No3-2
n=2-7.[N-(2hydroxybenzylidene-2-aminobenzoicacid)] behaves as
bidentate ligand by coordinating through oxygen atoms and
forms five membered chelating ring.Similarly, adipic acid
dihydrazide also behaves as bidentate ligand through nitrogen of
both amino groups. The IHNMR, IR, UV-Visible and mass spectral
studies are made for structural determination. The analytical
and mass spectroscopic data reveal that the ligand molecules are
bound to metal atom through oxygen and nitrogen and they have
1:3:1 metal:ligands:ligand stoichiometry. The antifungul
activities of the mixed metal ligand complexes have been
screened in vitro against the organism. A. niger and A. flavus
while their antimicrobial activities have also been screend in
the vitro against the organisms S.cocci and E.coli.
