Abstract:
Reaction between 3-formylsalicylic acid and
4,5-dichloro-1,2-phenylenediamine yields a hexadentate Schiff
base (H4fsacph) with N2O4 donor
frame of which the inner compartment is N2O2
and the outer is O2O2 type. Nine
heterodinuclear complexes {M–M′}, where M = the outer metal ion,
and M′ = the inner metal ion, have been prepared. These
complexes are Co(II)–Cr(III), Co(II)–Ni(II), Co(II)–Cu(II),
Ni(II)–Cr(III), Ni(II)–Co(II), Ni(II)–Cu(II), Cu(II)–Cr(III),
Cu(II)–Co(II), and Cu(II)–Ni(II). The complexes have been
characterized with the help of elemental analyses, molecular
weights, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibilities, Thermo
gravimetric analyses, and spectroscopic (UV–vis, IR) data.
