Abstract: Betulinic acid was
esterified with lipase as catalyst and chloroform as organic
solvent. Analysis of the product showed the esterification
occurred at C-3 position. The optimum reaction condition was
investigated. Enzymes, temperature, molar ratio, time of
reaction and amount of enzyme affected the yields of betulinic
acid ester produced. Novozyme was the best enzymes among other
enzymes tested that produced yields of 45%. The optimum yield
was produced at 12h reaction time, molar ratio of 4, temperature
of 50ºC and amount of enzyme of 150 mg.
