ABSTRACT

This paper reviews the statistical thermodynamic models used for the prediction and correlation of viscosity for pure component liquids and multi component liquid systems. The models reviewed were chosen because they are well known, applied and accepted or appear potentially promising. Recently developed viscosity model and Flory's statistical theory has been applied for the prediction of viscosity of there ternary liquid systems containing n-Alkanes, which are suited for practical engineering use. Newly developed viscosity model, which is based on statistical thermodynamics, local compositions and Eyring's absolute rate theory, gives better results in comparison to Flory's statistical theory. The applicability and average deviations for these two methods have been discussed, with the recommended methods identified.
